MaP Score: The weight in grams of the maximum amount of waste that can be fully evacuated from the toilet in a single flush (including toilet paper)

WaterSense-certified: Certified by an independent laboratory as meeting certain stringent flush performance requirements, including at least a 350 gram MaP score. Average flush cannot exceed 1.28 gallons . 4.8 litres of water. Only high-efficiency toilets (HETs) may be WaterSense-certified.

MaP PREMIUM-rated toilets provide the highest level of performance and efficiency. PREMIUM toilets are WaterSense-certified, flush at least 600 grams (21 ounces) of solid waste in a single flush, and use no more than 4 litres (1.1 gallons) of water to do the 'job'!! Floor mounted: Toilet fixture is affixed to the floor. No weight bears on the wall.

Wall mounted: Entire fixture is affixed to the wall and the entire weight of bowl and tank is borne by a carrier structure in the wall.

1-piece . 2-piece: 1-piece toilets house the tank and the bowl in a single piece of chinaware; usually more expensive than equivalent 2-piece fixtures with separate bowl and tank

Bowl shape: Round front bowls for older dwellings and smaller bathroom spaces; elongated bowls for better hygiene and larger bathrooms. Commercial installations require elongated.

ADA (elevated) bowl height: The U.S. Americans with Disabilities Act (http://www.ada.gov/) provisions for bowls sets the height at 17-19 inches (430-485 mm). For MaP searches, the threshold has been set at 16 inches (400 mm) and above. Note: bowl height of conventional toilets is about 15 inches (380 mm).

Gravity Fed: Fixtures that only use gravity (weight of water in the tank) as the source of energy for flushing.

Pressure Assist: Fixtures that use the potential energy in the building.s pressurized water line to compress air within a containment vessel inside the toilet tank. Compressed air behind the water provides a more vigorous flushing action than gravity fed.

Rear outlet: the waste outlet is in the wall rather than the floor. Rear outlet toilets may either be floor or wall mounted.

Flapper size indicates the diameter of the water flow outlet from the tank into the bowl. While a larger outlet generally results in a faster transfer of water from the tank to the bowl, it does not necessarily indicate a higher level of flushing performance.

Single-Flush HET: High-efficiency toilet flushes at 1.28 gallons . 4.8 Litres or less. One flush option.

Dual-Flush HET: High-efficiency toilet with average flush volume of 1.28 gallons . 4.8 Litres or less. Two flush options: "reduced flush" of 0.8 to 1.1 gallons (3.0 to 4.0 Litres), "full" flush of no more than 1.6 gallons . 6.0 Litres

Know the rough-in dimension of your toilet installation. The distance from the flange bolts (that anchor your bowl to the floor, usually covered by small plastic caps) to the wall behind your toilet is known as the rough-in. In most North American homes that dimension is either 10, 12, or 14 inches, the most common in today's homes being 12 inches.

In humid climates, sweating toilet tanks can be a problem. As cold water refills the tank after a flush, condensation can form on the outside of the tank and drip on the floor. One solution is to install a model with an insulated toilet tank, which acts as a barrier between the cold water and the sides of the tank.
