Unlike some other toilet testing organizations, MaP testing protocols and processes are entirely transparent. Our Version 5 test protocol is not "secret" nor does it use test materials (test media) that have no relationship to the "real" demands upon a toilet fixture. MaP tests use soybean paste and toilet paper as a close replicate of the "real world".

All MaP-qualified laboratories use consistent methodology to test every toilet to failure. Click here to view the Version 5 MaP Testing Protocol that all MaP-qualified laboratories are required to follow. The Version 5 MaP Testing Protocol and Other Requirements is effective as of May 1, 2013. This new version incorporates the key provisions of the LADWP SPS that were previously handled separately, including flush volume adjustability and the requirement for a pilot-type fill valve for tank-type toilets.
