Maximum Performance (MaP)

About MaP

Since its development and release in 2003, MaP has been a major driving force in the improvement of toilet flush performance in North America.  In 2003, the average MaP score of all tested toilets was 336 grams (12 ounces), while by September 2012, the average score of 1,860 different toilet fixture models had more than doubled to 799 grams (28 ounces).  (SEE THE GRAPHICS HERE!) The competitive pressure to improve fixture performance from the unacceptable levels of the 1990s, together with MaP as a vehicle to measure performance, has resulted in many hundreds of high-performance 21st century models, for which the manufacturers must be given great credit!  Today, over 80 manufacturers representing 100 different toilet fixture brands are participating in the MaP Program!

Remember, though, MaP is a VOLUNTARY testing program.  Manufacturers may choose to participate, but are under no compulsion to do so.   Therefore, not all toilet models found in the marketplace (at the wholesalers, distributors, retail outlets, plumbing supply houses) will have been MaP tested.  But, to date, 2,800 different tank-type toilet models have been tested, over 2,500 of which are reported in the public database on this website!  In addition, another 371 flushometer bowl/valve combinations (for commercial installations) have been MaP tested and results reported here.
